A good day for a picnic at the beach

Since it was a late night for everyone (the kids didn't get back from the city bus until nearly 2:30am) we all had a nice sleep-in...well, everyone except Michael.  Not long after he fell asleep, he was awakened by a Willis pawing on his back.  He heard him cough, and rolled over to toss him off, only to discover that he yacked up a furball and cat chow on his back...ewww!  No wonder I found him asleep on the other bunk this morning :)  Ironic that Willy T threw up when he was the only one who hadn't partied the night before.  He's been on house arrest since we docked.  No trips to the KitKat GoGo Lounge just yet.  Not until momma is certain he can find his way back home! It was time for a trip to the laundry, no doubt.

Donnie and the kids went out to breakfast, while I enjoyed some extra sleep.  I got the dishes washed, laundry gathered, and boat straightened up by the time they got back. I threw together some drinks, a beach picnic snack, the sunscreen, towels and sheets to lay on, and we headed for Sombrero Beach. We stopped by Mamaw and Paps first to throw the laundry in to wash.
A neighbor of theirs went fishing in the weeds at about 150 ft deep just
off of Washer Woman and hooked this 35lb.dolphin fish. At the restaurants
its called mahi-mahi. That right there is some mighty good eating!
The beach has packed today.  It was a gorgeous sunny day in paradise.
About 80 degrees, no clouds, and a 'beautiful breeze' as my grandma would
say.  Look at these cuties playing in the sand.  See their sand/snowman?!
A walk on the beach is the perfect way to start out the new year.
Before we totally cooked ourselves, we went back to the pool
and hot tub at Banana Bay, and a much needed nap in the shade :)
As we got back to the boat, the Gulf was flat calm like a lake so we decided to
take a dinghy ride to Porky's for dinner.  Matt and Karie pulled into the marina
from lobstering on their dinghy, so we asked them to join us.  Though the new
6hp motor ran well, it hardly can plane off with four people on board. Matt
was doing hot laps around us with his 15hp motor and v-bottom dink- nice ride.
We got home well after dark, but the new 2.5 million candle watt power spotlight Mom got Donnie for Christmas works like a charm- thanks Mom!  We all showered up, relaxed, read, watched some football and took it easy before we called it a night.  Going to go check the weather for tomorrow- we may plan a sail trip out to the reef for some snorkeling and diving. G'nite, all!
