Bahia Honda, baby!

Today was Karie's first day off in far too long, so a celebration was in order.  We planned a sail to Bahia Honda State Park for some hobos and voodoo juice.  Danny and Biddi were to join us, but Biddi was not feeling well, so they opted out, but sent us the voodoo juice in their place.  We simply couldn't partake without them, so as I write this blog, the party is in full swing on the back of Biddi and the Beast.  Danny's sister, Cindy, and her friend Karen, just arrived today from an extended trip on the Amazon, Peru, Equador, and the Galapagos Islands.  Can you say jealous?!  They'll be staying for a week, so you'll probably be 'meeting them' sometime soon...

Captain Matt at the helm of his 34' catamaran, Endeavourcat, as we left the marina.
Hoist that mainsail Ms. Karie; she might be small, but she's mighty!
The auto pilot was doing all the work...nice Capn's chair, huh?
We learned a quick lesson. Somebody needs to keep an eye out for the
mine fields (lobster pots).  Donnie dove in to free it, but in dropping the
sail and coming about, we dropped the pot on our own without incident.
A beautiful downwind sail, wing on wing :)
Coming into Bahia Honda State Park, past the old
Flagler railroad bridge.
It has two pretty beaches, plenty of snorkeling, and a trail to the bridge.
You can also camp there, catch a dive charter, or visit the nature
center where you can watch a live underwater camera that is mounted
under the bridge...you might see something big pass through to the harbor.
No trip to Bahia Honda is complete without hobos on the grill-
thanks to Greg and Wanetta, it is a tradition for visiting this park :)
All smiles as we patiently wait to eat!
A brief rainshower passed through while we were eating.
We ate ourselves miserable, so we had to walk it off... the view to
the Atlantic from the bridge. Love the shades of blue.
Don't be fooled, Karie is vertically challanged...handsome couple, right?
We've been working on our tan, time to work the bodies a little more :/
We watched this guy from Texas pass through the bridge into the
harbor.  He was single-handling, and it took a few tries for
him to set the hook (his anchor).
such a pretty little harbor...
...an even prettier catamaran.  Seriously, this boat is beautiful.
I like this shot. I hope we get to do more exploring, in even more
exotic places later this spring :)
The day couldn't have ended more perfectly. We passed through the
seven mile bridge at sunset. Gorgeous.
Willis was ready to be sprung when we got home.  He was a frustrated kitty.  The ladies came calling earlier today, and all he could do was look longlingly through the screen at the top of the ladder.  Unless it rains tonight, I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls an all-nighter.

It sounds as if the party is still going on next door, so think I'll call it a night, y'all.  G'nite!

  2. no tattoos this year...it was a 'toned down' trip with Danny not there. As I said, the voodoo juice was saved, and we all ended up on Danny's boat when we got back. We came into the marina after dark, by the 'light of the moon', so Danny saw fit to give us a big, white, full moon from the bow of his boat- that Danny! lol
