57, windy, and cold!

Yep, you read that right...a cold north wind has been bearing down on us for the last 24 hours. Tonight the overnight low is down to the mid-40's with the wind still a steady 15-20mph. After breakfast of juevos rancheros by the First Mate, we went outside to see what all the commotion was about.
A sailboat that had been about 300 yards out was dragging anchor
and heading straight for us tied up to the wall- yikes!
Fortunately, it managed to rehook itself, before it crashed landed into us.
The kids attempted to find a sunny spot out of the wind at the pool, but no such luck today. Instead, we opted for a trip to Daffy's to check out the expanded discount store. They've added a really nice deli, and everybody cashed in on sandwiches, chips and a can of pop for just $2.99.
Willis was placed on modified house arrest today, but he
only briefly stuck his nose out. He returned to the stateroom
for a long afternoon nap with mom.
Cap'n was far more productive than I was today.  While we were at Daffy's, he stopped in at SALT to speak with a technician about our refrigeration unit.  He discovered another corroded connection, reconnected all the wires to the control box, and voila! She works again :)  Another to-do item tah-done.  After I woke up from my nap, we went to West Marine for a look about.  We still have a light out in the head.  Didn't find a replacement we want, but we added some more items to our wish list...chartplotter, new dock lines, a fan for the head, a fishing cooler, some flags needed for cruising, etc. We plan to wait until the boater's huge three-day flea market in Islamorada next month, before we buy anything.
Cap'n made a very cold dive under the boat,
to retrieve a battery that fell out of his
cordless drill.  After an overnight soaking
in saltwater, my guess is its toast.
We all enjoyed our first Taco Tuesday of the season :)
Tonight was dinner and a movie- Mission Impossible :)
We walked by Tilden's Scuba Center on our way back to the boat. I need
to check out a housing for my digital camera to go diving.
It looks to be windy and still rather chilly (only a high of 65), so I think its a trip to the Dolphin Research Center in the morning, and perhaps we can catch some sun in the afternoon by the pool. We just checked the weather back home, and in spite of dressing in layers here, I can't say that I'm missing the cold, blowing snow back home.  Paradise is a little on the chilly side, but its still paradise!

  1. Okay, if it's cold we won't be quite as jealous. Still jealous though.
