Taking a break. from life. part two.

So the real reason for the boat ride yesterday was to take this couple out for a celebratory boat ride and lunch.  They just got engaged at sunrise on the beach that morning.  They've known each other since 7th grade, and got reconnected through the internet about a year ago, of course!  Isn't love grand?!  They were happy, and we were happy for them, so we bought them the best dessert on the island to cap off their lunch- deep fried key lime pie!  True to form, you cannot put a bite in your mouth without exclaiming, "Oh. My. God." To which they did, and we all had a good laugh :)
After lunch, Danny took us on a cruise through Boot Key Harbor so the Iowa girl could see all the boats from all over the world.  This boat ran flags up his back stay from every country he's been to- and it was a boat smaller than ours!  I saw flags from Europe and the Caribbean so I know he's been across the Atlantic Ocean.  Very cool.  We then cruised through Sister's Creek, past Sombrero Beach, out towards the reef and back under the Seven Mile Bridge.  It was a beautiful day to be out on the water, even if it wasn't our own boat.  We saw a dolphin surface twice on the Gulf side as we neared Banana Bay, but I couldn't get a good shot of them.  I swear, they are part Amish.
Here's the view of Marquesa from atop Biddi and the Beast as Danny was turning his boat around to dock.  He can turn his boat on a dime even though he doesn't have bow thrusters.  He just works the two engines, and lays his boat against the dock real easy like.  The man knows how to Captain his boat- drunk or sober, lol.

This pelican was waiting on us as soon as we tied to the dock.  He was looking for a hand out.  Pretty picture :)
While we were gone today, an iguana chewed my garden down to sticks.  All but the tomato plant, and this was after I moved it onto the dock a few days ago.  I give up.  I gave the tomato plant to Kenny to raise and threw the rest of it in the mangroves. Dang iguanas ticked me off.  Willis was on our boat while we were gone, so he couldn't run him off either.  Doesn't matter, it was only a matter of time- those iguanas are wily like a coyote and fast like a roadrunner.
We had a brief shower late in the day, and then a rainbow came out.  Maybe it's God's promise that Bessie will start tomorrow when we try to crank it?  One can only hope, but I am not holding my breath on this one.  G'nite, y'all.
