One project a day...

So the plan is to accomplish one task/project a day.  We had a marina party to go to from 4-6pm today, so we got busy earlier.  Donnie's project was to install a new saltwater pump (for the head to properly flush, and for the galley sink).  This was one of the easier fixes for Mr. Fix It, and he did a bang up job.  I cannot brag on the man's skills enough...owning boat requires you to have loads of money to pay somebody else to do all your repairs, or figure it out for yourself.  Donnie and Marquesa have gotten to know each other intimately in the last three weeks!  My project for the day was to pedal, pedal, pedal the clown bike to the grocery for some supplies for my party food for today's and tomorrow's parties. I also wanted to do a bit of gardening.  We passed by a Farmer's Market this morning, and the produce looked wonderful.  I do not yet have a basket on my bike, so that is a project for another day- to get to the Home Depot for a crate.  I will definitely be hitting the Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings down here.

Donnie is nearly banned from going to the grocery with me from now on.  The P-L-A-N was for both of us to lose some weight and get in shape while we're down here; not with Cap'n grocery shopping.  I needed three items; we came home with two packages of cookies, poptarts, and other crap we didn't need!  We then promptly met up with Dave and Diane and Mac and Jean for the  $3.99 cheeseburger and fries at the Cabana poolside restaurant here at Banana Bay.  It is the best deal in the Keys; Cheeseburger in Paradise- no joke!  Yep, that diet will have to start another day, another week, or another month from now :)  We spent the rest of the afternoon being lazy by the pool.  Guess the exercise thing will have to wait, too.

Mac and Dave were wondering what the po' folks is doin'.
Dave (originally from Anderson, IN) has worked here at
Banana Bay Resort for 14 years.  Great guy.

Willis is lovin' the boat life, too!

We love Slip #33, on the wall.  The trawler in front of us provides
some portection if there's a north wind (so far there hasn't been).
We have a beautiful view of the Gulf of Mexico, and the private
island you can rent for $3000 a week, chump change.

The view of the marina; we are one of only six sailboats here.
The rest are power boats and trawlers- many are fulltime cruisers
who have 'sold out' and live full time on their boats.  Few of them
are under forty feet, except for Marquesa, of course!

The view from our 'side yard' as you step off the dock.  Our camp chairs
and clown bikes are under our very own palm tree.  Tiki bar and jet ski rental is
right within reach.  Paradise livin', complete with soundtracks by Bryan & Donnie!

My garden is growing. A tomato and green pepper plant, basil, parsley,
and the dill, oregano, cilantro and chives- and a geranium for good measure!
Our first marina party, pre-Superbowl.  Boaters like to eat and drink!
Me and my honey- good times :)
And the view from our place as the sun is going down...
It just doesn't get any better.  No projects tomorrow. Sunday is a day of rest- all day!  Church in the morning then a Superbowl party from 3-5pm, and the game at Mac & Jean's.  Since the Colts didn't make it,
I guess were rooting for the Packers, instead.  We drew the numbers 1 (Steelers) and 0 (Packers) in the marina betting pool.  Keeping my fingers crossed, we gotta do something to bring in some money! JK!

  1. If you want to know what the po folks are doing, they are shovelling 1-2 inches of new snow off of the 2 inches of ice that is underneath the snow. It sound like you guys are having fun, eat some fish for me, skeet never fixes it. We miss you guys. Love ya.

  2. Rinnie, If you want to get in shape while you are down there, (the bike pedaling will help) find a zumba class. They are everywhere, local churches, high schools and some library's are holding them. Went to one at AU last week, will be going again. It kicks your but. Thighs hurt for 2 days, but you can burn upto 1000, yes 1000 calories per work out. That is like running 10 miles...See if you can find one for when we are down there. Only 33 days until our fun in the sun. Love ya Skeet.
