wind and more wind

The wind continued to crank all last night, all day today, and all evening this evening.  Tomorrow the forecast is MORE wind (25-35) and 60% rain.  The good news is that it's still out of the E/NE, so it is blowing us off the dock, rather than into it.  The other good news is that Wendy has been cranking right along, too, and seems to be putting charge into our batteries. I'm just glad this front is moving through before Ellen gets here on Friday.  The forecast for her week's stay here is 80 and sunny in the day, 74 at night, for seven straight days in a row!  She'll get a real taste for paradise :)

Donnie got started this morning with the battery load tester.
We're praying we don't need a whole new bank of batteries.
For now it seems we're okay...until next year, most likely.
One gallon Don stopped by to offer his electrical expertise- much appreciated!
The first of our purchases the other night arrived this morning-
four jerry jugs for fresh water to lash onto the deck :)
A pumper truck from Miami came by today, selling deisel for $3.65/gallon.
That was a deal we couldn't pass up- too bad we were only down 14 gallons!
Gotta love living and travelling on a sailboat, lol :)  See the wind still blowing?
Today was Sandy's last day...so it looked like a good reason to throw a party!
We had ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, cheesy potatoes, baked beans, chips,
fresh pineapple, and of course, one gallon Don brought one gallon, lol.
We had an all-afternoon game of dominoes- cut throat dominoes!
Justin filled in for Sandy, and promptly lost her 100
point lead in just two rounds- he was fired.
Biddi hoarded her dominoes when choosing them.
You didn't dare pick up one of HERS, or else...
unfortunately it didn't work. She was the winner-loser.
It was only fitting that Sandy won her last game here in paradise.
We finished just in time to be treated to a gorgeous sunset, in spite of the clouds.
This evening we visited with Matt and Karie, and discussed our to do lists and sailing plans to Looe Key this weekend.  We're all looking forward to getting 'off dock', and getting especially excited for the Bahamas trip!  After leaving their boat, we were invited to Yesterday's Dream, Steve and Linda's boat.  She is a 1978 beauty of a trawler, that has been lovingly restored by them.  They are heading to the Chesapeake this summer. We would love to sail the Chesapeake Bay one day. They are also full time liveaboards, which got us thinking to yet another "someday when"...
Good nite, y'all:)

  1. Another beautiful day in paradise (even with the wind). I hope we get to get off the dock while I'm down there. I am so looking forward to my first time on a sailboat. Hope I'm not laying in the floor sick with Willis, but if I am at least I will be in good company.

  2. Oh dear...I hope you both don't get seasick! We'll go easy on you :) I've got just the trip in mind, but I'll save it for a surprise when you get down here!
