To get, to do, to done!

In prepping for a passage on the ocean, whether it's 150 miles, or 1500 miles or more, there is much to consider, much to prepare for, and much to be done.  Today's blog will be boring for those of you not interested in 'sail speak.'  The OCD list making has begun in earnest today...

To get:
* Garmin 740 chartplotter (about $1240.00)
* Radar reflector ($56.00)
* Epirb ($427.00)
* 4- 5 gallon water jerry jugs ($65.00)
* fan for the head ($25.00)
4-5 day white marine grade cooler (about $200, with deck mounting hardware)
Napa replacement filters for Bessie (about $100)
children's modeling clay (for our fancy water catching system)
change to Progressive insurance, to include coverage to the Bahamas
* all purchased this evening, thanks to input from Matt!

To do:
fix roller furling
locate fresh water leak
* reinstall AC (remember we spent $1075 on the new compressor)
install cockpit speaker for VHF to monitor channel 16 while underway
change oil on Bessie- check all hoses, filters, and belts
install fan in head- service/clean all other fans
change port side window
thread new mainsheet
mark anchor lines
check sea anchor
check all life vests (whistles, strobes, CO2 cartridges, etc)
check sea cocks
check plumbing for galley and head sinks
check stuffing box
check battery connections and cables
grind prop, check drive shaft
check solar input
check wind input
replace block wheel on starboard jib sheet
make copies of all documents for ditch bag
file paperwork for cruising permit for Bahamas
more wax on the Marquesa
oil teaks again

*The AC is working beautifully thanks to Cap'n Donnie (aka Mr. Fix It) today- yay!!!

While Daddy had Marquesa torn up yet again to reinstall
the AC, Willis did his best to stay out of his way.
We stopped midway through dinner on board to go catch another
gorgeous Florida Keys sunset...simply beautiful.
Tomorrow?  Who knows what tomorrow will bring?  Boat projects, for sure, it depends on what we feel like tackling for the day :)  Until then...I need to stop the bleeding of our credit card. G'nite y'all!
