We should have done this all along...

Today was the usual morning projects.  Donnie worked on the cabin fans once again.  Four of the six are now properly working..two of them are goners.  He salvaged parts off of them in case he needs to do repairs on the remaining ones later on. Good idea. While it sounds simple enough here, it involved stopping at no less than four places to see if they sold 12 volts fans...but, we have wheels now, so we didn't have to pedal, pedal, pedal in the HOT sun.  We took to the internet when we got back to the boat, and we found two more fans.  They should be here in 3-4 days.
We also bought the properly sized dive flag and
halyard mounts so we are legal when we dive off Marquesa.
We ran over to Mamaw and Paps this afternoon, to deliver some line to where our boat will be docked on the canal.  Polly and Bryan were having a cold one at tiki da hut, so we stopped in there to shoot the breeze.  Along came Jay, Meagan, Jackson, and Reece, too, and soon we had a full house telling tall tales and lies.  Reece and I got along swimmingly.  She left me prezzies in her diaper.  Suffice it to say that Mimi has not lost her touch, and after a clean didie, she was soon dozing in my arms :)

Tonight, Donnie and I left for a dinghy ride and dinner.  We passed this very
strange boat that had just anchored up in the Gulf.  Looked like an old steel
hulled working boat of some kind..with the Navy? Coast Guard? A research
vessel?  Beats me, but it was about 90 feet long, and is now privately owned.
They were flying a British flag.  It was very interesting.  It had a very narrow
beam for as long as it was, and it had stabilizers on booms off each side. I can
imagine how this thing would pitch and roll with her long decks awash in a storm.
NO THANKS.
We ended up at Sparky's, at the Seven Mile Marina just by the bridge.  We had never eaten there before, but we had passed by it earlier in the day when we were on our mission to find cabin fans. We had amazing grilled key lime chicken sandwiches with carmelized onions and provolone, served on a pretzel roll.  Never had a pretzel roll before, but it was delicious!  I highly recommend it, if you're ever down this way.

Date night!
A view of their quaint little marina.  A guy was cleaning a nice sized
jack as were were coming in.  It's mostly fishing boats here.
No day is complete without a sunset pic!
Dan Sullivan was playing there, and was he ever GOOD!  He didn't play
sets, but simply took requests all night long.  He played Pink Floyd,
Tom Petty, James Taylor, Bread, the Beatles, Steve Miller, the Allman
Brothers, Three Dog Night, Looking Glass, Moody Blues, Neil Young,
He played it all!  He's also formerly from Alaska :)
As soon as he started playing, we knew we had to invite Bryan and
Polly down to hear him play..they've heard him before.
There was this six foot seahorse sculpture in the peak of the roof in the
tiki hut.  The stage lights were mounted to it.  This picture doesn't do it justice.
It was very cool...
The merlot was not served in a sippy cup, so Bryan had to have
two hands on his drink at all times, or else...
It was well after 9:30pm when we left Sparky's.  Thankfully, the moon is full tonight.  There was a slight breeze, but the Gulf was nearly calm, so it was not a wet ride home.  In fact, it was beautiful.  It was a perfect evening; good food, good music, good company, good times.  We should have been doing more of this all along.  G'nite all!
