hunting Easter eggs in the sand

HAPPY EASTER!
Christ the Lord has risen...
He has risen indeed!!!
Thanks be to God, our Heavenly Father!
Emily's day started with Easter treats on her bed this morning.

Look at this sweet angel Great Mamaw was holding in church.
Jackson wanted to "drive Daddy's truck" to dinner after church.
He was having fun with his Easter stickers...he was attempting to be
a pirate for Uncle Donnie....AAARRRRGGGHHHH!
Aunt Karyn really goofed.  Jackson will be two this week, and I thought
I was doing his momma a favor by giving him crayons and a coloring paper
(of pirates, of course) to keep him occupied at the restaurant.  Nope. Jackson bit
off and attempted to chew up his orange crayon.  He thought it was a carrot.
Dang if he didn't look cute with crayon chards stuck to his chin!  I, on the other
hand, looked ridiculous with egg on my face- even though I had the french toast.
When we got home from dinner, Emily was surprised with an Easter egg
hunt, Keys style!  She hunted for eggs in the sand, in palm trees,
behind coconuts, etc.  She gathered her eggs in a sailboat beach bag :)
Nothing like enjoying a view of the Gulf of Mexico while on an egghunt.
Donnie was offering some assistance since he wasn't in charge of hiding this year.
Some of them were easy...kind you spot another one?
Others were more difficult...can you spot Emily?!
Yes, some were even hidden in palm trees!
Willis was a little put out over the egg hunt, so Momma scattered
his favorite cat treats all over the floor of Marquesa.  He FOUND THEM all!
Sissy was so proud, she game him some congratulatory lovin'
We spent the remainder of the afternoon by the pool.  We played a raucous
game of dominoes with Mamaw and Paps.  Em led the whole game until the
final two rounds...her and Mamaw nearly came to blows.  Mamaw prevailed!
Meet our Cuban-American friends!  They shared with us their
grilled chorizo and flank steak...muy delicioso!
We were waiting to enjoy our last Florida sunset together.
Again, we were not disappointed. it was a green flash tonight, too.
What a beautiful end to the celebration of Easter.
After dinner tonight, Emily and I watched the Hallmark movie (sniff)
together.  Apparently the sappiness was too much for both the boys.
They had a boxing match after the final credits rolled.
While Emily showered before bed, Willis was protesting her
leaving tomorrow.  He was staging a sit down on her luggage.
(Either that, or he was begging to be taken back to his log cabin in the woods!)
Soon enough, my furried friend, soon enough.  It looks like we'll be moving Marquesa to her summer home on the canal by the end of this week.  We hope to be packed and ready to go by Sunday morning...another sniff, sniff.

  1. Karyn, you are such a great mama! SO very proud of your girls and your fur babies. Kinda makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. And next year, I totally want an egg hunt with the Gulf in the background!!!

  2. Thank you, Lori. I appreciate that :) We've done some MAJOR egg hunts in our woods over the years when all the kids were home. Just can't break with tradition!
