Sailing!

It was a gorgeous day for a sail.  The wind finally clocked around from the E/SE.  The temperature was a comfortable 78 degrees, and we had a steady 10 knot breeze, for the most part.  We had planned to sail later in the day with some friends, but instead we decided to get an earlier start, just after lunch.  I've got to say, it was nice having sailors aboard...it was a relaxing day for me, as they all jumped to grab a line, take up the fenders, store the docklines, take up the sails and such :)  I simply enjoyed my book in the sunshine!
Bryan took the helm as Donnie set the mainsail. I think I was at the helm
for all of about five minutes today.
Polly, Bryan's bride, did her very best being a bow babe :)
Back in the day we used to get nervous in 5 or 6 feet of water...not in the
Gulf of Mexico!  I get concerned at 4.0, really anxious at 3.6 :/
After puttering around on the Gulf side, we thought we'd go through
the bridge to take a peek at the Atlantic side.  It's been kicked up
for days, 6-8 ft. waves.  Not today, but there was a little chop...
We no sooner passed under the bridge, into the chop...
Bryan decided we needed the stereo off, to enjoy the sound of the wind
and the waves...
...and the sound of a sick Willis, yowling and
yacking it up down below.  He went and laid down
in the head.  Wish I could train him to throw up in
there :(  Momma was there with a cold washcloth to wash
 his face, though...poor puss.
Donnie parked the boat beautifully; I don't know how he makes that three
point turn in such a tight space, but he lays her gently alongside the
dock each time! The boys then decided to have a jam session- good music.
Willis finally resurfaced...we wasn't interested in a glass of white wine.
He caught a whiff of something he liked in the salty air, then
he dashed into the mangroves.  Must be feeling better-
I found a quarter on the dock where he jumped off.
After the boys ended their jam session, we decided to head to the Hurricane for Taco Tuesday.  We met up with Dan and Biddi, and a guy named Jeff, also from the Indianapolis area.  After dinner, we had a good twenty minutes to make it to the local theater to go see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  Everybody must have decided that Tuesday was movie night, as only one seat was left.  So much for dinner and date night.  We can always try again tomorrow.  Instead we came home and decided to swim our laps for the day.  I got 11 done in 11 minutes, and beat Donnie again (I love a good competition :) We then relaxed on Dan and Biddi's boat to watch the Kentucky game, then JUSTIFIED!  Just another gorgeous day in paradise...wish you were here :)
