The only consolation was Donnie had an even hotter job, stuffing himself in the engine compartment. The new starter came in at NAPA, so we went and picked it up this morning after our visit with Dave & Diane and Mamaw. They left at 11am for Indiana for the week. I do NOT envy them; I heard it was only in the teens there today, and supposed to be below zero tonight. It's nearly 11pm now, and I'm still in shorts and a tank top; it's still 74 degrees here! Boy, did we pick a good time to get out of dodge. Greg sent us this pic of our pole barn yesterday...
Now that's a sheet of ice! |
Paps provided the light and tools, while Donnie installed the new starter. |
After bleeding the lines, Bessie fired right up the first time! No more wrench beatings for her :) The next major project for Donnie will be installing the wind generator. Then we just have the usual maintenance; washing, waxing, and oiling the teaks. We are getting all ready for company to come down (hint, hint ;)
Today was cheeseburgers in paradise for lunch. The daily special at Cabana's here at the resort is a $3.99 cheeseburger and fries that can't be beat. On our walk back to the marina, we passed several banana trees.
I am only working on taxes in the morning tomorrow. I think Paps is bringing out his barbering kit, and Polly has the barber chair all ready (another garage sale find). So 'the boys' are all getting haircuts in the morning. After that? Maybe a game of tennis? A walk on the seven mile bridge? A dinghy ride? Sunbathing by the pool? Who knows?! All plans are in sand anyhow... tomorrow looks to be another warm, sunny day here, that's about all I know! I hear a hot tub calling my name...nothing like a hot tub before bed, man, are we taking it tough down here. (Willis, too.)
